Seiko Harima is an artist based in Japan, England, and the United States. Her practice expresses the beauty of nature through the power of color, using oils on canvas. Her current paintings are contemporary landscape views, inspired by the great masters of the past.
She is currently attending the Master of Research (MRes) program at the Royal College of Art (RCA), London (Fall 2023-2024). Her research at RCA involves expressing the effects of climate change using oil and charcoal on canvas. She has completed the Graduate Diploma in Art and Design at the Royal College of Art (RCA) in London, UK.
She also earned her MA in Fine Art at the University of Brighton, England (2021). Her MA research examined the work of J.M.W. Turner, with an emphasis on the study of his brush technique, colour palette, and his artistic world. She learned oil painting at the Art Center College of Design, Pasadena, California (2013-2014).
Seiko has numerous artistic experiences, including solo and group exhibitions in Japan, America, England, and Italy. Her most recent solo exhibition was held at the Kato Eizo and Toichi Memorial Art Museum (Gifu City Museum), Japan (April-June 2022). She received the prestigious 2022 Art and Culture Engagement Award in Gifu, Japan, which is bestowed each year to the top contemporary artist.
